Black Holes

I'm in a Hogwarts group on Ravelry and this is my 1st assignment for Astronomy:

Black Holes

A black hole is the result of the collapse of a very massive star. Under normal conditions, a star will burn hydrogen fuel, converting it into helium. During the last stages of the star’s life, when the hydrogen fuel runs out, the star begins to burn helium into a heavier element. These elements that are burned, other than hydrogen, create an imbalance between the gravitational forces and the nuclear forces that under normal conditions keep the star stable (see supernova). Due to this imbalance, gravity takes over and the star begins to collapse upon itself until it reaches a point of infinite density and infinitely small size, in other words, a black hole. This black hole creates a massive gravitational effect unlike any other. This effect is so great, that even light cannot escape its gravitational wrath.

A black hole also has an event horizon, the boundary of the black hole where anything inside will feel the effects of gravity. Anything outside the event horizon will not feel these effects. This event horizon plays a role in the emissions a black hole gives off. Though this seems impossible, it really can occur.

A black hole is only created when the star is extremely massive and large; these stars are called super giants.

It's been awhile

A lot has gone on this summer, and I completely forgot I had started a blog. Well first off, I don't think I've finished anything at all except a hat I tested for a SKY lady on Crochetville. I started a baby blanket for my godmother's first grandbaby, Savannah. I also started a baby blanket for own baby, due in January. Yes, a new baby! It's going to be another boy so now I'll have little Stevie (who will be 2 in February) and this new little one. I'll be the only female, which seems scary to me. I hope eventually to have a little girl to crochet dresses for, but for now, my two boys seems just fine to me.

I'm doing a Ripple Blanket for the little one, using the Neat Ripple pattern by Lucy from Attic24. It's going to be blue and a dark pink. I know my fiance will object to using pink for a boy, but I'm planning for this blanket to be passed from this little one to any future little ones. Plus, I'm using the Red Heart my lovely friend Wendy gifted to me for my birthday from all the way in Australia.

I'm also starting a bag using Lucy's Crochet Bag pattern. She always comes up with such lovely and simple patterns. Hopefully I'll have pictures up soon of what I am doing.

I am very upset. I've been doing my best to work on a doily, but I got so frustrated I frogged it, and now I can't find my book I was working from. It was due by the end of May for a swap and since I've been feeling sick and I hurt my shoulder beginning of May (and it's still sorta stiff)......May was just not a good month.

Awhile

I havent posted in awhile. I've been working on a blanket for my mom's friend who had cancer. She had it removed thank goodness and I just have to finish the border on it. I'm also working on a very bright Round Ripple. I'm hoping to have a few more done this month too.

Wow, it's May tomorrow

Wow, I can't believe tomorrow is May. It seems like my birthday and Easter were only a few days ago. In the SKY room, we all picked a few projects to work on during May and we have to PM them to Laura. Well I still dont have my list finalized and it's due tonight. I have DS's Spiralghan, Peter and Meghan's Wedding Granny Square Afghan, the Round Ripple I started, a few baby items to make, I need to start the Drumghan and I want to get going with Donna's birthday present, I won't say what it is here, although I'm dead positive she doesn't even know my blog exists.

Birthday

It's my birthday today, I'm officially 19 now. Went on an Easter egg hunt earlier with DS and my mom. He enjoyed it, even won a little stuffed giraffe for finding a camouflage egg. The whole thing tired him out.

Well I got home, and there was a package waiting for me. My lovely friend Wendy in Australia had sent me seven skeins of Red Heart, three pink and four blue! I'm so excited. I have to let it speak to me and tell me what it wants to be. I'm thinking a spiral-ghan, but who knows, it may want to be something else.

Irish Lace Scarf

Well I've been working on this scarf for over a week, its all dc and sc and it gets annoying after awhile so I keep having to put it down. Hopefully this will get finished by Easter, I don't want to have to worry about it at all. I still have to make the flowers and leaves to sew on, all for my mom's friend's birthday. Well, it's my friend's mother also so I want it to be done so we can give it to her.


Wow, completely forgot to post this and it's been sitting here for over a day. Well might as well update on today. Didn't get much done though, started a square, thats about it.

Well I finished two bookmarks today from thread, I'm very proud of myself. I still have to finish the CAL that I was a part of, but I can't bring myself to do it. Come Monday one of these is getting mailed to my friend Donna's mother. She had mentioned that the SHOL (silver haired old lady) likes to read.

Wow, I really suck at keeping a blog, not like anyone reads this anyway.

My birthday is in 8 days, on the 11th. No idea what I'm doing though, probably just crocheting. I've been working on this Irish Lace Scarf from Lionbrandyarns.com. It's cute, but it's for my mother's friend Mary for her birthday. I'm hoping to have it finished by my birthday, since her's isnt that long after, not sure which day though. I figure its a good goal anyway. I'm also working on a thread bookmark for Donna's mom, she mentioned she likes to read, so that will be finished and going out in the mail tomorrow. Donna sent me a RAOK, a book with 8 different afghan patterns!!!! I can't wait to try them all! I'm so excited. I was to make the Spiral Afghan for my son is brown and green, his bedding is all jungle-ish and our bedroom is green also.

I know I know, I haven't posted in a bit, but it's not like anyone is reading this anyway. I've been working on a blanket for my friends baby, but it gets rather boring doing the same stitch over and over again, so I've been putting it down a few minutes after I pick it up. On a happier note, I love pineknott on Crochetville. She's awesome. She sent me two skeins and 21 little different balls of scrap yarn, mostly varigated, and I LOVE varigated yarn. I turned a little ball into a cell phone holder, because I absolutely love the colors, they're so deep and bright, I can't wait for it to stand out against my white purse. I always love to stand out in the most unnoticeable ways, I normally wear dark solid colors which will work well with the profession I plan to go into, but my underwear and socks are always bright colors, I'm cheery on the inside! Some of the balls she sent me went into my scrap blanket because they were long enough to make a row. This blanket will take me a long time, but I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

Finished!

I was attempting to create a hat using some scrap yarn, but decided to finish with only one piece of scrap yarn and make myself a headband of my own design. I rather like it, it's one of my favorite colors too. I used Caron Simply Soft Shadows in Dark Moss with a 'J' Hook.

Scrapping

I found a way to use up my scrap pieces of yarn.

Vintage Vertical Stripe Crocheted Blanket

That scrap blanket looks so cool, even with all the different colors. This will take some time but I'm looking forward to finally finishing it. I know what my treat will be for finishing it too, I'll go take a trip to the yarn section of either AC Moore, Michaels or JoAnns. I will not go to Walmart again though, they never have the colors I want and I hate that.

On another note, I have decided that I'm absolutely horrible at making hats, only because I have an awful time starting off something round. Maybe I'll make my own hat that I don't have to work too much into rounds. Just maybe.

One down

Well I finished a scarf today. I can't remember for the life of me where I got the pattern from, but I can remember the whole thing so it works for me. That's one project done so far.

The Beginning

This is my first blog, and I've decided to use it to record my adventures into creating things. I'm constantly starting projects, so I figured if I recorded my progress, I'd actually want to finish.

I like to crochet, and I'm new to knitting, I've got tons and tons of yarn, but I never get to finish a project using it. I love hunting for new patterns to try though. I probably should hunt down my projects and record them. For now, I am knitting a blanket a strip at a time, then I'm going to piece it together. I'm using Caron Simply Soft, and the first color is Rubine Red, although it looks more like hot pink.
